Philip W. Gabriel - President & Executive Board Member
Phil has been working in the precision GPS/GNSS and Wireless fields for over 25 years and in technology for over 30. He currently serves as President of Hemisphere GNSS with offices in Calgary Alberta and Scottsdale, Arizona. Prior to that, he served for over seven years as Vice President and General Manager of the Precision Products business unit at Hemisphere GPS (TSX: HEM) based in Calgary, Canada. During Hemispheres’ Wireless days, he worked for the Wireless Business Unit based in Milpitas, CA and led the Telematics group as VP Sales. Phil joined Communications Systems International or CSI in 1996 before the company was renamed Hemisphere GPS. He grew CSI’s business in Marine DGPS markets worldwide and was instrumental in expanding the company’s overseas businesses, throughout South America, Europe, Middle East and Asia.
Prior to joining Hemisphere GPS, Phil held various Sr. Management and Business Development positions with AlliedSignal Aerospace, before they were acquired by Honeywell. Part of that mandate included his position as Canadian National Sales Manager for Furuno. At that time Furuno was the largest Marine Electronics manufacturer in the world. He also managed Allied Signal’s Aeromarine business Division in Marine Electronics, Airport Runways systems and Weather Radar sales and distribution. Prior to Allied Signal, Phil worked for 5 years with a startup company in Montreal, Canada called Digidyne. He established their Service and Repair facilities before becoming their first Applications Engineer, supporting the National sales team with technical support. Phil’s educational background includes a Diplôme d'études collégiales in Electrotechnology as well a Business Diploma and later a Marketing Diploma from Montreal’s McGill University Business School. He is also a Certified Sales Professional (CSP).
Dr. Michael Whitehead - Chief Technology Officer
Dr. Whitehead joined Hemisphere GPS in 1999. Dr. Whitehead leads the development of advanced GPS products, including centimeter level positioning and attitude determination systems. He is the author of numerous patents related to GPS. Prior to joining Hemisphere GPS, Dr. Whitehead was Senior Scientist at Satloc Inc. Dr. Whitehead implemented virtually all of the algorithms and associated software for a wide area differential GPS network (WADGPS), providing real-time, sub-meter position corrections to GPS users in the field. Dr. Whitehead also served in similar capacities with IPEC/Athens Corporation and General Dynamics. Dr. Whitehead holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering with Honors, a Masters of Science in Electrical Engineering and a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, all from the University of Florida. He is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.
Walter Feller - Vice President, Product Development
Walter originally joined Satloc in 1995 and has been heavily involved in designing and managing teams to design GNSS based products. He then was promoted to Vice President of engineering at CSI (and CSI Wireless) from 1999 to 2003. Now Walter is leading a talented team of designers and engineers with a focus on customer applications and using his innovative talents to help solve difficult problems. Having graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering in 1985, Walter furthered his education towards a masters in Electromagnetics while working on new RF products. Walter first started working with GPS receivers and antennas in 1990, and has invented or co-invented over 13 patents.
